Amber on Ice

16 October -- Last week several Kwaj friends and newly-made "Winterover" friends left the Ice. They had all been bere since last February and stayed through the dark and cold winter season. They were scheduled to leave on Tuesday, 10 October but the flight made it about 4-hours in when it turned around and went back to Christchurch, a.k.a. "boomeranging", due to bad weather. There's some McMurdo Record of people boomeranging up to 11-13 times.
